It was a beautiful start to the new year with the Thousand Buddha Chanting service at the Fo Guang Shan Hsiang Yun Buddhist Temple on Sunday and Monday, Jan. 25 and 26. Festivities included music, delicious vegetarian food and, of course, lots of lion dancing.
Art was also part of the show with a spring show from the Multicultural Arts Partnership (MAP). MAP founder Cecilia Ling, herself an accomplished painter, calligrapher and photographer, provided on-site portraiture in addition to exhibiting her works.
“Artistically, I make these photos like a painting,” Ling said of her unique style. “I use a totally different technique to achieve the best quality for that person. The result is something totally handmade.”
The Fo Guang Shan Hsiang Yun Buddhist Temple, located on the Capitol of Texas Highway, offers classes year-round, ranging from introductory Buddhism to tai chi, as well as other services.
