It started with a desire to bring women from various backgrounds and expertise together to help one another.
Austin Real Estate Broker/Owner Paula Hui met Anna Bodine through then Austin City Council Member Jennifer Kim. Both Hui and Bodine have their own businesses and realized they had a lot in common. Hui is Broker/Owner of Paula Hui Real Estate Services and Bodine is financial adviser with AXA Advisors.
But it was also their desire to share ideas and support one another that was the impetus to creating a new organization.
“I really believe in the power of networking and the power of referrals,” Hui said. “I like being involved in organizations where people are helping people and people are giving back to each other. I like that sense of community.”
The idea was to recruit women from different industries who could offer various strengths to share with the group. In addition to Hui and Bodine, charter members include attorney Ami Desai of Desai Law Firm; Jennifer Kim, a principal of Kaleidoscope Consultants; Darlene Lanham, who runs diversity workshops; photographer Rama Tiru and Asian Austin publisher Yvonne Lim Wilson.
In addition to learning about each other’s work, members have an opportunity to support one another through goal setting during meetings throughout the year.
“It’s definitely a team thing. I’m constantly learning,” Hui said.
