In other recent news, CAAAD joined the Asian American Democrats of Texas. Stated goals of AADT include mobilizing and uniting different Asian American groups under one umbrella to form a unified Asian American vote, while also increasing participation among Asian Americans. A third goal is to increase the presence and understanding of the Democratic Party within the Asian American community.
Ramey Ko, along with Jennifer Kim and Nick Chu founded CAAAD in 2007. CAAAD supports democratic officials who are supportive of Asian American issues and the community, and also promotes issues of importance within the Democratic party. Other goals include expanding the number of Asian Americans in elected office and also organizing Asian Americans in support of the Democratic party.
CAAAD is always accepting new members. Check them out at their monthly meetings held on the first Tuesday of each month, 6:30 p.m. at First Chinese BBQ, 10901 N. Lamar.
